As part of our Farming Thematic STEM topic, we have been exploring how we can estimate the size of tractors by comparing them with objects of known size, such as metre sticks and then cars.
The children measured the length, height and weight of various cars (thanks to our staff allowingus to do so). Using this knowledge, the children were then able to make more accurate estimates of a tractor’s height, length and width using simple multiplication and comparison skills.
The children enjoyed applying maths to everyday life and discovering how estimation can help us understand the size of objects around us.
We are looking forward to measuring a tractor to see how accurate our estimations are! 🚜 🚜 🚜
