RESPECT As we begin our school year, it is important that we set out our standards for respect from the beginning. Simple things like a smile, good eye contact or a “hello” can make a huge difference when forming relationships with new friends and helping others. Small gestures towards others show that you value them and will help to build respect. In the month of September we will be focusing on the Christian value - RESPECT. This is also one of our Key School values. As a whole school community, we will be discussing what RESPECT means and what it should look like within each classroom. We will be looking at: How we show respect for each other and adults in the school community. How children are encouraged to value and respect their own and other people’s belongings. How children are encouraged to show tolerance by accepting feelings, habits or beliefs, racial or ethnic origins that are different from their own. What patience, kindness and good manners should look like in our classroom.   [Open Document] | ☕ Coffee Morning ☕ - Friends Of Mullinahoe - Coffee Morning on Sunday 28th of September from 12.00 - 2.00 pm in the Ardboe Community Centre.         Year 3 Autumn Term 2024 - Pikemere School Alsager

                                            2025-2026

Welcome to Primary 3!

I am so happy to welcome everyone back to school and into our Primary 3 class. We have lots of exciting things planned this term and we can’t wait to get started!

This term, we’ll be reading George’s Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl—a fun and silly story that will help us with our reading and writing. In art, we’ll learn about Vincent van Gogh and paint pictures of the autumn landscape using bright colours and bold brushstrokes.

We’ll also be learning about money at home—how we use it, save it, and make good choices. This will help us understand how money works in everyday life.

One of our key themes this term is respect. We’ll be learning what it means to show respect to others, to ourselves, and to the world around us. Some of our respect activities will include:

  • Role-playing kind and respectful behaviour in different situations
  • Creating a class “Respect Tree” where children add leaves with examples of respectful actions
  • Reading stories that show characters being respectful and discussing what we can learn from them
  • Practising listening skills and taking turns during group work and play

Outside, we’re looking forward to using our new Key Stage One outdoor space. We’ll also be planting and growing things in our new polytunnel, which will help us learn about nature and healthy eating.

As we begin this new school year, we say a prayer for our class:

Dear God, thank you for our Primary 3 class. Help us to learn new things, be kind to each other, show respect, and enjoy every day. Keep us safe and happy this year. Amen.

Please keep checking the school website for updates and photos of what we’re doing in class!

Wishing all my children a wonderful and happy year in Primary Three.

Mrs Haycock
