🐾 Wee Critters Visit – Key Stage 2

9th Jun 2026

We were delighted to welcome Allan from Wee Critters into school yesterday to work with our Key Stage 2 classes. The children had a fantastic experience and were fully engaged throughout the sessions.

During the visit, pupils had the opportunity to meet and learn about a variety of fascinating animals, including a snake, a tenrec and an armadillo. Allan shared a wealth of knowledge about each animal, explaining where they live, how they survive, and the adaptations that help them thrive in their natural habitats.

The children learned about:

  • Different habitats around the world and how animals are suited to them
  • Adaptations, such as protective armour (armadillo), camouflage, and survival behaviours
  • Diet and food chains, understanding what different animals eat and their role in the ecosystem
  • Nocturnal and diurnal animals and how their activity patterns affect their survival
  • The importance of caring for animals and conservation

Pupils were particularly excited to see the animals up close and even had opportunities to interact with them safely. This hands-on experience made learning memorable and helped bring classroom topics to life.

Allan’s engaging delivery, enthusiasm, and expertise ensured that every child was involved and eager to learn. It was wonderful to see such curiosity, thoughtful questions, and respect for the animals throughout the sessions.

A huge thank you to the Friends of Mullinahoe once again for their continued support and generous contribution, which helped make this fantastic workshop possible.

A big thank you also to Allan and Wee Critters for providing such an enriching and enjoyable learning experience for our pupils!
