Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Minister for Education has recently announced two additional school closure dates for this academic year as part of the Transform Education initiative. These days are being introduced nationwide to give school staff dedicated time for high‑quality professional development, helping to support better learning outcomes for all pupils.
Our school will be closed on:
- Wednesday 18th March 2026
- Monday 13th April 2026
On these days, no pupils should attend school, and normal classes will resume on the following school day.
Transform Education is a major education reform programme designed to improve teaching, learning, assessment, and overall school quality across Northern Ireland. These additional closure dates allow teachers to participate in the professional development required to implement Transform Education effectively.
By investing this time in staff training, the initiative aims to:
- Improve teaching quality
- Strengthen learning experiences
- Support consistent, high‑quality practice across all schools
- Ensure pupils benefit from the most up‑to‑date educational approaches
