Bertie Foley Cup – A Fantastic Day of Football

2nd Jun 2026

Today we were delighted to host the Bertie Foley Cup, and what a wonderful day it turned out to be! Although the morning began with some less-than-ideal weather, conditions soon improved, with the clouds clearing and the sun shining brightly for the afternoon’s games—creating a brilliant atmosphere for all involved.

We extend our sincere thanks to all the teams who attended and helped make the day such a success: St. Peter's Moortown, St. Canice's Dungiven, Kingsisland, Laghey PS, Ballylifford, St. Trea's Ballymaguigan, Derrychrin, and Holy Family Magherafelt. Your enthusiasm, effort, and sportsmanship were a credit to your schools.

Football was played in the very best spirit throughout the day, with teamwork, respect, and fair play evident in every match. The standard of play was exceptional, with a fantastic array of talent and skill on display—it was a joy to watch so many exciting games.

A huge congratulations to all of today’s winners:

  • Girls’ Cup – St. Peter’s Moortown
  • Boys’ Cup – Holy Family Magherafelt
  • Girls’ Shield – Kingsisland
  • Boys’ Shield – Derrychrin

A special mention must also go to Scarlett from St. Peter’s Moortown and Darragh from Holy Family Magherafelt, who were deservedly recognised as Girls’ and Boys’ Players of the Tournament—a fantastic achievement and a reflection of their outstanding performances throughout the day.

Finally, thank you to all the teachers and helpers who supported the event, and to Ardboe GAA for the use of their fantastic facilities, which helped make the day run so smoothly.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the Bertie Foley Cup such a memorable and enjoyable occasion.
