Our Grandparents Mass ~ Catholic Schools Week 2026 β€οΈπ
What special and heartwarming way to celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2026 at St Patrick’s Primary School, Mullinahoe! With the theme “Catholic Schools – Normal Lives, Called to Holiness”, our Grandparents Day beautifully captured the essence of living out faith in everyday moments—through family, community, and the quiet transmission of values across generations.
The special Mass in the chapel, led so thoughtfully by Tremer, set a prayerful and joyful tone. A huge thank you to our wonderful choir, readers, altar servers, and everyone who contributed to making the liturgy so meaningful. These celebrations remind us how faith is nurtured not just in words, but in shared worship and participation.
After Mass, it was lovely to welcome grandparents into the school for tea, coffee, and those delicious scones—thank you to Delores and the entire kitchen staff, teachers and classroom assistants for your hard work and hospitality. Even the brief power cut couldn’t dampen the spirit; we were soon back enjoying the refreshments and each other’s company!
The children’s guard of honour outside the school was a touching highlight—clapping and cheering as grandparents arrived created such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Seeing families and grandparents gather in the hall, laughing, sharing stories, and connecting across generations was a true reflection of the school’s close-knit community.
Grandparents hold a profoundly important place in our school and family life. They are often the quiet heroes who pass on the faith—through stories of God’s love, simple prayers, family traditions, and the example of a lived Christian life. As Pope Francis and Church teaching remind us, grandparents frequently play a vital role in handing down the faith to grandchildren, offering wisdom, unconditional love, and a witness to holiness in ordinary, everyday ways. Your presence strengthens our children’s roots in faith, helps them feel part of something bigger, and shows them that living as a Catholic is about love, joy, and connection in “normal lives.”
Thank you to every grandparent who attended and made the morning so memorable. Your involvement means the world to our pupils, staff, and families. Events like this highlight why Catholic schools like ours are special places—where faith, family, and community come together to nurture the next generation in holiness.
Wishing continued blessings to all at St Patrick’s Mullinahoe—may these moments of togetherness inspire many more!
