November Activities!
We have had a very busy and productive few weeks in P6/7, and the pupils have shown fantastic enthusiasm across all areas of their learning.
In Maths, pupils have been learning about 2D shapes, their properties, and different types of angles. They have particularly enjoyed cutting out shapes and folding them to identify and check for lines of symmetry. We have also been exploring triangular numbers, the pupils worked in teams completing practical tasks, problem-solving and investigating triangular patterns.
In Religion we have been learning about the Bible and the Ten Commandments. The pupils created their own personalised set of Ten Commandments—values and principles that they feel are important in their own lives. These were beautifully presented on card cut into a tombstone shape, showing great care and creativity.
In WAU the children have been exploring blight. They carried out a controlled experiment to investigate how different substances affect potatoes. Working in groups, they placed potato samples into water, vinegar, salt water and oil and observed the changes over the course of a week. Pupils made careful observations, compared results, and drew thoughtful conclusions about the effects each substance had. They found the experiment fascinating and enjoyed taking on the role of young scientists!
In Literacy, pupils are continuing to study a range of poetic devices, and have been observing the weather, seasonal changes and the natural world as they prepare to write their own Winter poems. They have also shown wonderful commitment to their Accelerated Reading goals, putting in excellent effort and demonstrating a real appreciation for the power and enjoyment of reading.
Well done, everyone!
We are very proud of the hard work, creativity and teamwork shown by all pupils. They should be delighted with their efforts—well done, P6/7!
