🌱 “Seeing the Beauty, Understanding the Harm”

8th May 2026

Primary Three took part in a beautiful art workshop today, led by Mrs Nuala Quinn. The workshop was linked to our topic on Whooper Swans and Northern Ireland and gave the children an opportunity to express their learning through creativity.   Using art, the children explored the natural beauty of Lough Neagh and reflected on why it is such a special place for wildlife. They also learned how pollution is affecting the lough and the wider world we live in.   Through this experience, the children began to understand that caring for their local environment is important, as small actions can help protect the places, animals and habitats they enjoy now and in the future.

The children really enjoyed this workshop, and it was wonderful to see how engaged and enthusiastic they were in class. Art is a lovely way for children to connect with the world around them, and the children stayed focused and involved throughout the session.

We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Quinn for organising such a special experience for the children of Saint Patrick’s. It was a valuable opportunity for the children to connect with grandparents in our community, who have so much knowledge, care and experience to share.
