RESPECT As we begin our school year, it is important that we set out our standards for respect from the beginning. Simple things like a smile, good eye contact or a “hello” can make a huge difference when forming relationships with new friends and helping others. Small gestures towards others show that you value them and will help to build respect. In the month of September we will be focusing on the Christian value - RESPECT. This is also one of our Key School values. As a whole school community, we will be discussing what RESPECT means and what it should look like within each classroom. We will be looking at: How we show respect for each other and adults in the school community. How children are encouraged to value and respect their own and other people’s belongings. How children are encouraged to show tolerance by accepting feelings, habits or beliefs, racial or ethnic origins that are different from their own. What patience, kindness and good manners should look like in our classroom.   [Open Document] | ☕ Coffee Morning ☕ - Friends Of Mullinahoe - Coffee Morning on Sunday 28th of September from 12.00 - 2.00 pm in the Ardboe Community Centre. Summer Reading Challenge

13th Jun 2022
Summer Reading Challenge

July sees the beginning of the annual Summer Reading Challenge, a free reading programme for children 4 – 11 years when they set themselves a reading challenge to help prevent the summer reading dip.

What are the benefits of reading and why should parents and carers register their children for the Summer Reading Challenge?

• Reading improves concentration
• Reading teaches children about the world around them
• Reading improves vocabulary and language skills
• Reading develops a child’s imagination
• Reading helps children to develop empathy
• Reading is FUN

You can never be bored if you have a book in your bag!

Your local library has a wide range of children’s story and fact books to browse and borrow. As well as that children can collect the wonderful Summer Reading Challenge resources which include a certificate and medal for those children who complete their personal challenge.

The 3 dates when the Mobile Library will call at St Patrick’s Primary over the summer holidays –

Friday 29th July     – 10.15 -11.15 am

Friday 12th August – 10.15 -11.15 am

Friday 26th August – 10.15-11.15 am

This will allow the children and their parents/carers to avail of reading materials and Summer Reading Challenge resources so that each child can take part in the annual Summer Reading Challenge.

If there is any change to these dates we will update you.
