Visit from the Livestock & Meat Commission!
Our P6 pupils were very excited to have the opportunity today to attend a cookery demonstration held by Mrs Sandra Wilkinson from the Livestock & Meat Commission.
The demonstration was superb!
Sandra was a source of knowledge and she explained to our pupils the meaning of farm quality assured beef and lamb. 🐑
Sandra highlighted the high standards that are expected on farms and how our farmers are working very hard everyday to the produce beef and lamb to the world leading standards that the scheme demands.
The children got an insight into the journey of Farm Quality Assured beef and lamb from the farm to the fork.
Our pupils learned a lot about the importance of reducing food waste in the home to help reduce global warming and care for our environment.
Sandra prepared and cooked chilli beef pasta. She explained the vitamins and nutrients contained in all of the ingredients and talked about the importance of a healthy and balanced diet.
All of our pupils had the chance to taste the pasta at the end of the demonstration. They all loved it. It was delicious!😋
Each pupil received a workbook full of recipes and a lovely pencil from the Livestock & Meat Commission.
Our pupils loved the demonstration and many of them are excited to try some of the recipes.
We would like to thank Mrs Sandra Wilkinson for this informative session.
